Agartala, February 20: In response to the rising incidents of crime in the capital involving unregistered vehicles especially two-wheelers, the traffic police, in collaboration with the West Tripura district police and the transport department, conducted a series of joint raids across Agartala on Thursday.
The operation aimed at identifying and penalizing vehicles operating without registration or number plates.
Speaking on the initiative, Traffic Inspector Ramendra Debbarma stated, “This joint operation involves the traffic unit, district police, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), and the transport department. Our objective is to identify and take action against vehicles moving without registration and number plates, as they are frequently used in crimes like snatching and theft. We are imposing fines and initiating legal proceedings against violators.”
He further highlighted that another key focus of the operation was to curb reckless driving, which has been a major cause of road accidents in the city.
The raids were conducted simultaneously at multiple locations across Agartala, marking a significant step in the security forces’ intensified efforts to regulate vehicular movement and enhance public safety.
