Agartala: Feb 19: The Pradesh Congress and Seva Dal, in collaboration, will organize the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Constitution” program in Udaipur on Thursday. In connection with this initiative, Lalji Desai, the All India Seva Dal’s Chief Organizer, arrived in the state on Wednesday for a tour. On the evening of his arrival, Desai addressed a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan, where he expressed concerns over recent remarks made by the Union Home Minister in Parliament regarding Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Desai stated that these objectionable comments had triggered the nationwide launch of the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Constitution” campaign, which aims to honor Ambedkar’s legacy and the Constitution.
Desai further criticized the current central government, claiming that the country is being looted by thieves. He also pointed fingers at the government for its handling of the ongoing crisis in Manipur. Additionally, he accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of running Tripura with “goon squads” and engaged in widespread “goondaism” across the nation. Desai stated that this intimidation was not limited to Tripura, but was a national issue, with the media even being unable to report freely.
Addressing the unemployment problem in Tripura, Desai held the state government responsible, alleging that they were attempting to suppress opposition voices and stifle dissent. He further claimed that the BJP was using violent tactics to maintain control in Tripura, a situation that has worsened to the point where even independent media outlets are being silenced. Desai emphasized that Congress would continue its movement to fight against these issues and uphold the interests of the people. He reiterated that the fight against authoritarianism and the government’s oppressive policies would continue, both in Tripura and across the country.
