Agartala: Feb 15: The Sonamura Police have made a significant breakthrough in their crackdown on drug trafficking, recovering brown sugar worth approximately Rs 6 lakh near Madhuban Naka Point, Sonamura. This operation was made possible by a tip-off, which led the police to set up a checkpoint and intercept the suspected smuggler .
The smuggler, who was traveling from Melaghar to Sonamura, abandoned his motorcycle and fled towards the riverside when he noticed the police presence. However, the police were able to recover a packet containing seven packets of brown sugar from the abandoned bike.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges posed by drug trafficking in Tripura, but also underscores the police’s active efforts to curb drug-related crimes.
