Agartala: Feb 14: Balai Goswami, the Chairman of the West Tripura District Council, passed away on Wednesday night at Chennai’s Apollo Hospital due to a heart attack. He was admitted to the hospital for a health check-up on Tuesday.
Goswami’s mortal remains were brought back to Tripura on Friday, and his body was taken to various locations for tributes and farewells. These included the MBB Airport in Agartala, his constituency in Bamutia, his home in Agartala, the Pradesh BJP office, the TRTC office, and finally, the Battala Crematorium for his last rites .
Several prominent leaders, including Minister Tinku Roy, MLA Ratan Chakraborty, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder, and Pradesh BJP Vice President Subal Bhowmik, paid their tributes to Goswami. Minister Tinku Roy praised Goswami as an effective and skilled organizer, particularly in managing elections, and assured that the BJP would continue to support Goswami’s family during this difficult time.
Goswami was also known for his involvement in social initiatives, such as inaugurating a blood donation camp in November 2024, where he encouraged citizens to donate blood and save lives .
