Agartala: Feb 13: Balai Goswami, the Chairman of the West Tripura District Council, passed away unexpectedly yesterday at a hospital in Chennai. His untimely demise has deeply saddened political leaders and colleagues from across the region. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha expressed his profound grief, describing Goswami’s death as an irreparable loss to both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) family and the state of Tripura. In his tribute, the Chief Minister recalled his conversation with Goswami’s daughter and hospital authorities upon hearing about his illness, though he never imagined that Goswami would pass away so soon.
Other prominent figures, including MP Biplab Kumar Deb, Minister Ratan Lal Nath, MP Rajeev Bhattacharya, and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, also expressed their condolences. MP Biplab Kumar Deb highlighted Goswami’s dedication and efficiency, stating that his contributions to the organization would always be remembered. Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who had been a long-time political companion of Goswami, shared his sorrow, emphasizing the immense personal and political loss. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury reflected on the difficulty of accepting the sudden departure of such a long-time comrade.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder, too, expressed deep sadness, extending his heartfelt condolences to Goswami’s family. He acknowledged the loss of a respected leader, whose untimely death has left a void in the political landscape of Tripura. Leaders across party lines have united in grief, acknowledging the loss of a skilled organizer and administrator whose contributions to the state will be missed. Goswami’s passing has undoubtedly left a mark on the hearts of many, and his memory will remain cherished among those who knew him.
