Agartala: Feb 10: Based on a tip-off, a joint operation by the RPF and GRP led to the recovery of 25 bottles of the cough syrup Escuff from the HamSafar Express, which was traveling from Bengaluru to Agartala. The estimated market value of the seized cough syrup is around one lakh rupees.
According to reports, eight youths from Bihar were transporting the bottles of Escuff syrup to Tripura. The operation took place as the HamSafar Express arrived in Tripura. Upon arrival, the RPF (Railway Protection Force) and GRP (Government Railway Police) conducted a thorough search based on the secret information they had received, successfully recovering the illegal items from the train.
RPF officials confirmed the details of the operation, stating that the cough syrup was being smuggled into Tripura, likely for illegal distribution. The seizure of such products is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, as certain cough syrups are often misused as narcotic substances.
The authorities have taken the necessary legal steps and are investigating the case further, including interrogating the individuals involved. This incident underscores the continuous vigilance of law enforcement agencies in curbing illegal activities and ensuring the safety of public health in the region.
