Agartala, Feb. 7: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday reaffirmed the stability of the BJP-led government in the state, dismissing concerns over internal tensions within the ruling coalition.
His remarks come in the wake of a strong statement by Tipra Motha Party (TMP) supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma a day ago, who hinted that his party might reconsider its position in the alliance if key promises remained unfulfilled.
Addressing reporters at Narsingarh in West Tripura, Saha clarified the coalition’s position. “It is not like that… I talked to him (Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma). We are united. Today, all the MLAs of TMP are coming to my residence to hold a meeting. There will be discussions on development issues. The coalition government is nicely running in the state. We are united,” he asserted.
Saha also said that BJP is coming to power in Delhi this time.
The TMP, which emerged as a significant political force in the last Assembly elections by winning 13 seats independently, later joined hands with the BJP-led government ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Tripura’s 60-member Assembly now includes TMP as a key ally in the ruling coalition.
Saha’s remarks indicate an attempt to dispel speculation about rifts within the government, emphasizing that dialogue and cooperation remain intact between BJP and TMP leadership. The meeting at his residence is expected to address developmental priorities and reaffirm the coalition’s unity.
