Agartala: Feb 06: A youth named Ratnajay Riang was seriously injured after being shot in the Manikpur forest of Dhalai district, raising concerns about the safety in a state that has been touted as terror-free. On Thursday morning, Ratnajay, a resident of the Khas Mile area, went to the forest to cut brooms. During his work, unknown miscreants fired at him using a country-made gun, leaving him seriously injured. Despite the attack, Ratnajay managed to escape the forest and reached a populated area, where he was rescued and taken to a local hospital for initial treatment.
After receiving first aid, Ratnajay was referred to GB Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His family has expressed confusion over the incident, stating that Ratnajay has no known enemies, and they are unable to understand who would have attacked him.
The incident has sparked concern among locals, as it contradicts claims of a terror-free Tripura. Many are questioning the safety of common people in the state, with gunfire incidents occurring more frequently. The family and community members are voicing their frustrations over the rising insecurity.
Despite the police taking up the case and initiating an investigation, there are concerns about the lack of progress in uncovering the truth behind the attack. The inability of the authorities to effectively address such incidents has raised doubts about the state’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens.
