Agartala: Jan 22: Tripura will once again be part of the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, with its tableau showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage. A total of 26 tableaux will be displayed, representing the diversity of India, and Tripura’s tableau will hold the 19th position in the parade.
This year, Tripura’s tableau will highlight the state’s traditional festival, Kharchi Puja, which is a significant worship of fourteen deities, a practice that dates back to royal times. The tableau will blend the old and new, illustrating the fusion of tradition and modernity. The use of bamboo-based handicrafts alongside modern technology will emphasize this theme, with models in traditional attire and a bamboo frame symbolizing progress.
One of the key features of the tableau will be the representation of the fourteen deities through intricate bamboo and cane crafts. This artistry will honor the spiritual significance of the puja and its deep-rooted connection to the people of Tripura.
The worship of Ha Buma (Earth Mother), an important cultural aspect of the region, will also be depicted. The tableau will show a priest performing the puja in traditional attire, surrounded by bamboo and floral crafts and elements of modern art. These visuals will capture the deep spiritual beliefs of Tripura’s people while showcasing the continuity of tradition alongside modern expressions of art and culture.
Through this tableau, Tripura aims to celebrate not only its ancient spiritual practices but also its ability to evolve with the times, representing the perfect balance between heritage and modernity.
