Agartala: Jan 12: Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Choudhury recently criticized the current government’s approach to blood donation and social welfare at a blood donation camp organized by the Tripura Government Teachers’ Association. He compared the past, where blood donation was a widespread movement supported by both Left Front organizations and opposition parties, to the present, where blood banks often face shortages.
Choudhury accused the current government of lacking a humanitarian mindset, prioritizing political gain over genuine involvement in social welfare. He pointed out the government’s spending on large posters and organizing blood donation camps, only to see minimal participation, with often fewer than 10 people donating blood.
In contrast, Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to serving the people and working for their overall welfare . The government has also organized blood donation camps in the past, highlighting the importance of such initiatives.
Choudhury urged for a reform in the culture of blood donation, focusing on genuine involvement and societal contribution. He emphasized that blood donation is a noble cause that fosters a sense of brotherhood and called for similar initiatives to continue in the future.
