Agartala: Jan 06: Apropos news article published in your paper on 5th Jan 2005 regarding incident in Rahimpur.
The Border Security Force (BSF) categorically rejects the baseless allegations regarding the incident in Rahimpur on January 5. These claims misrepresent the facts and are clearly intended to malign the reputation, integrity, and professionalism of the security personnel who tirelessly safeguard the nation in one of the most challenging and volatile border regions.
The Rahimpur area is a known hotspot for cross-border smuggling activities, including the trafficking of narcotics and contraband. The individual in question, Eman Hossain, has been identified as a courier involved in smuggling and was actively engaged in assault and stone-pelting at BSF personnel. Attempts to paint him as an innocent is a ploy to divert attention from the organized smuggling operations thriving in the area.
The actions of the BSF during the incident was restrained and in accordance with the mandate to uphold border security. The situation escalated due the aggression from individuals armed with sticks and sharped edged weapons . Despite provocation, the BSF personnel exercised utmost restraint and used non lethal ammunition only when there was imminent danger to govt property and life. Allegations of vandalism or excessive force are unfounded and appear to be part of a deliberate disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting the BSF.
It is requested to refrain from propagating false narratives that embolden criminal elements and undermine the morale of those dedicated to protecting the nation.
The BSF remains resolute in its mission to ensure the safety and security on the border belt in the state of Tripura.
