Agartala, Jan 5: A fire broke out in a running bus carrying picnickers on Sunday evening along the Agartala-Khowai road at Jagatpur Chowmhuni area of Sidhai Mohanpur in West Tripura district.
Firefighters swiftly responded to the incident and managed to douse the flames, ensuring no serious injuries.
Passengers were safely evacuated, averting a major disaster. Two of the evacuated passengers were sent to hospital as they reported breathing problem.
A police team also reached the site shortly after the incident and has begun an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
Authorities are yet to confirm whether the fire resulted from mechanical failure or other factors.
It is suspected that the fire may have been caused by a short-circuit in the battery connection with the soundsystem. However, further details will be clarified as the investigation continues.
