Agartala: Jan 04: Acting on secret information, a joint operation was carried out by the Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Agartala Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) at Platform No. 1 of Agartala Railway Station, near the Jirania end, just before the departure of the Kanchanjunga Express. During the checking, a white plastic bag was discovered containing a total of 10 packets, which, upon inspection, were found to be filled with 19 kg of dry ganja.
Following all legal procedures, the seized ganja was confiscated. The market value of the seized narcotic substance is estimated to be approximately ₹1,90,000. The authorities are now conducting an investigation to determine the owner of the illegal consignment and the intended destination for the ganja.
The operation, which was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and illegal activities at the railway station, was a collaborative effort between the Agartala RPF and GRPS. The law enforcement agencies are working to gather more information and are hopeful of making further progress in identifying those responsible for attempting to transport the illegal substance.
