Agartala: Dec 29: In Agartala, the smart city initiative is witnessing a surge in advertisements and banners being put up across the city. However, many of these advertisements are being installed without the permission of the Agartala Municipal Corporation, prompting the mayor to issue a warning.
Under the Smart City project, the Municipal Corporation has been taking various measures to beautify Agartala. However, certain legitimate and illegal companies have been putting up small and large banners, obstructing the city’s aesthetic appeal, without the corporation’s consent. Recently, a cement company had placed an advertisement that covered the city and even spread across the entire state without prior approval. As a result, the Municipal Corporation imposed a fine of ₹4.5 lakh on the company. Despite this, the practice of putting up banners without authorization continues, and new banners are appearing in various parts of the city.
