Agartala, December 28: Large number of job aspirants who had physically qualified for the posts of fireman and driver under the Tripura Fire and Emergency Services department staged a protest on Saturday, demanding the publication of written examination results and the immediate filling up of 329 vacant posts.
The candidates, who cleared their physical tests in 2022, expressed frustration over the delay in the recruitment process, stating that the written examination was conducted nearly two years ago, but the results are yet to be declared.
The protesters attempted to gather in front of the Director’s Office of the Fire and Emergency Services department but were prevented by the police.
They alleged that repeated attempts to secure an appointment with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who also heads the Home Department overseeing Fire Services, had failed.
“We have been waiting for over two years, and the delay is pushing many of us beyond the eligible age limit for government jobs. We urge the Chief Minister to take immediate steps to finalize the recruitment process,” said one of the aspirants.
The candidates claimed that despite their qualifications and efforts, they are left in uncertainty, as the recruitment file is reportedly pending with the Chief Minister’s office.
Around 1,813 candidates had cleared for the physical tests for filling 329 posts of firemen and drivers which was notified in 2022. However, the absence of any official updates regarding the written test results has caused growing anxiety among the aspirants.
The protesters emphasized that the vacancies in the Fire and Emergency Services department need to be filled urgently to strengthen the state’s disaster response and emergency services.
They urged the government to address their concerns before more candidates become ineligible due to age limits.
