Agartala: Dec 27: On December 27, 2024, based on secret information, four Bangladeshi nationals (three women and one man) and two Indian traffickers (one man and one woman) were arrested at Agartala Railway Station. They had entered India illegally from Bangladesh and arrived at Agartala Railway Station with the intent of traveling abroad by train. The operation was jointly carried out by the Agartala GRPS, Agartala RPF, BSF, and the intelligence department.
Among the arrested Bangladeshi nationals were Shri Debanand Das (55), Shrimati Shefali Das (49), Shrimati Yashmi Bala Das (18), and Miss Golapi Das (19). The Indian traffickers included Arjun Das (60) from Bankura, West Bengal, and Shrimati Irani Das (27) from 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Shrimati Irani Das was accompanied by two children—Rashidas (4) and Sharmila Das (5).
During preliminary questioning, they claimed they were headed to Kolkata. Further rounds of interrogation are ongoing at the Agartala GRPS station. Police suspect that more individuals might be involved in this case. A case has been registered at the Agartala GRPS station, and the arrested individuals will be presented in court today.
