Agartala: Dec 09: A two-day safety training program for engineers and electricity workers in Tripura was held on December 9th and 10th, organized with the support of Tripura Power Transmission Limited (TPTL) and Power Grid. The training aimed to enhance the safety and security of power sector employees at all levels. During the event, the TPTL’s safety manual and safety infographics were unveiled, and tools and equipment were distributed to the electricity workers to improve their safety standards.
The Minister of Electricity, Ratan Lal Nath, was the chief guest at the event. In his speech, he highlighted that the state no longer faces load shedding issues, attributing the smooth power supply to the dedication and excellent service of the electricity employees. He commended the workers for their tireless efforts during the floods in August, but emphasized the importance of safety over speed. The minister warned that rushing through tasks without caution could lead to life-threatening accidents, stressing the need for employees to prioritize safety at all times.
Minister Nath further underscored the importance of adhering to safety guidelines, particularly for those working in the electricity sector. He advised workers to thoroughly check safety equipment, including gloves, helmets, safety belts, discharge rods, and safety shoes, before use. Any defects should be immediately reported to the concerned authorities. He also announced that the electricity corporation is in the process of procuring modern machinery designed to minimize risks for workers and improve safety in daily operations.
The General Manager of TPTL, Ranjan Debbarman, also attended the event, reaffirming the importance of safety and ensuring the well-being of the power sector employees in the state. The training and distribution of tools were seen as crucial steps in enhancing the overall safety culture within Tripura’s power sector.
