Agartala: Dec 06: Tripura has achieved significant success at the National Panchayat Awards, with seven awards being conferred out of the country’s 250,000 panchayats. The awards will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu on December 11 at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. This announcement was made by the Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, via social media on Friday.
Among the recipients, Gomati District has been recognized as the best district in the country, earning a financial award of ₹5 crore. The best block award has been given to the Amarpur RD Block, which will receive ₹1.75 crore. The third award, for the best women-friendly panchayat, was won by the South Manubankul Rupaischhari RD Block, with a cash prize of ₹1 crore.
The second-best village award was presented to Urja Panchayat from the Takchhara village in the Amarpur RD Block, which will receive ₹75 lakh as a special prize. Additionally, the Panchayats from Kumarghat RD Block’s Betchhara, Amarpur RD Block’s Debbari, and Amarpur RD Block’s Rankang have been recognized as the best for their efforts in poverty alleviation, improved livelihoods, water accessibility, and being child-friendly. Each of these panchayats will receive ₹50 lakh in recognition of their efforts.
In total, the awards amount to ₹10 crore. The Chief Minister congratulated all the panchayat representatives, officers, and staff for their dedication and hard work. He highlighted this achievement as a testament to the state government’s good governance and positive changes in the citizens’ quality of life, further underlining the success of the panchayati raj system in Tripura.
