In a major breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, Tripura Police apprehended five drug traffickers in the bordering Sepahijala district on Friday.
Subimal Debnath, Officer-in-Charge of Bishramganja police station said acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a successful ambush at Bishramganja market, leading to their capture. A NDPS case has been registered against them in Bishramganja police station.
A thorough search revealed a significant haul of drugs and items, including 400 Yaba tablets, 125 vials of heroin, 17 mobile phones, and cash amounting to ₹25,000.
The arrested individuals are currently under interrogation, with police aiming to uncover more details about their network and accomplices.
Officials intend to dismantle the entire drug ring, ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice. The accused will be produced before the Bishalgarh court.
This operation underscores the Tripura Police’s ongoing commitment to curbing the drug menace in the region.
