Agartala: Dec 05: The Tripura Gaussia Samiti has recently raised its voice against the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, particularly the Hindu community. The committee members submitted a three-point memorandum to the West Tripura District Magistrate, addressing the Bangladesh High Commissioner. This statement comes in light of the ongoing volatile situation in Bangladesh, where minorities have reportedly been facing significant violence and oppression.
A member of the Gaussia Samiti, while speaking to reporters, emphasized the distressing nature of the situation, highlighting that Hindus and other minority communities have been subjected to attacks on their homes and destruction of their properties. He condemned the viral videos circulating on social media, showing the inhumane treatment of minorities in Bangladesh, calling them deplorable and unacceptable.
Moreover, the committee voiced its outrage over videos showing the desecration of the Indian national flag at the entrance of an educational institution in Bangladesh. These images, which have also gone viral, were described as deeply painful and hurtful, with the member stressing that such disrespect for the Indian flag is a blow to the collective conscience of the nation. He reiterated that as Indians, the disrespect of their national symbol is intolerable.
In their memorandum, the Gaussia Samiti made several demands. They called for the immediate cessation of the desecration of the Indian national flag and for the clarification of the viral videos depicting this act. Additionally, they demanded an end to the persecution of Hindus and other minority groups in Bangladesh and urged the protection of their dignity and property. The committee’s statements reflect a strong stance against both the persecution of minorities and the disrespect shown to the Indian national flag.
