Agartala: Nov 24: A significant operation was carried out at Agartala Railway Station based on secret information received by law enforcement agencies. The operation was a joint effort between the Agartala Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). At noon, a raid was conducted on the Rani Kamala Pati Express, where authorities discovered large quantities of illegal substances, including 1,775 bottles of Eskuf, a prescription drug, and 23 packets of dry ganja.
Both the Eskuf bottles and the ganja were found to be unclaimed, raising suspicions of illegal smuggling activities. After observing all necessary legal formalities, the authorities seized the contraband for further investigation. The total market value of the seized ganja is estimated at approximately Rs. 2,76,000, while the Eskuf bottles are valued at around Rs. 7,10,000 in the destination market.
The Agartala GRP police have launched an investigation to determine the potential owners or smugglers behind the illegal consignment. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to curb illegal trafficking and drug abuse in the region. The seizure of such a large quantity of banned substances highlights the importance of maintaining vigilance at transportation hubs like railway stations, which are often used as conduits for smuggling illegal goods.
Authorities are continuing to gather information and are likely to strengthen their focus on disrupting the illegal drug trade that poses serious health and social risks. This operation serves as a reminder of the crucial role played by law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety and well-being of the public.
