Agartala: Nov 24: Tripura has achieved a significant milestone in its healthcare sector with the successful completion of two kidney transplants. A team of skilled doctors from Manipur collaborated with local medical professionals to perform these transplants, which were announced by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha ¹.
The successful transplants have brought new hope to the patients and their families. Moreover, the state government’s initiative has provided significant financial relief, as kidney transplants performed outside the state can cost between 35-40 lakhs. In this case, the entire procedure was funded by the state government, alleviating the financial burden on the patients’ families.
Looking ahead, the state government plans to expand kidney transplantation services in Tripura. Discussions are underway to explore the possibility of transplanting kidneys from deceased individuals into patients in need, which would enhance organ availability and save more lives ².
