Agartala, Nov 21: Ahead of the historic date of November 26th, various programs have been planned in the state. On Thursday, the CITU and the Tripura unit of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) jointly held a press conference to provide details about these programs.
Pavitra Kar, State Committee Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha, informed about the programs, stating, “On November 26, 2020, a historic farmers’ movement took place. To commemorate the fourth anniversary, various programs have been planned across the state, in line with the nationwide programs on November 26, 2024. As part of this, a ‘warning assembly’ will be held across the country to issue a warning to the central government. This will set a three-month deadline. If the demands of the workers and farmers are not met within three months, a larger movement will be launched.”
Shankar Prasad Dutta, State General Secretary of CITU, who was present at the press conference, said, “This movement is primarily to fulfill the demands of workers and farmers. Through this movement, a three-month deadline will be given to the central government. Within this time, they must take effective steps to fulfill the various demands of workers and farmers.”
He further stated, “To suppress the workers, 29 labor laws have been repealed and four labor codes have been introduced. This has hindered the demands of workers for an eight-hour workday and minimum wages. Therefore, we are demanding an eight-hour workday, a minimum wage of Rs. 26,000 for workers, and a pension of Rs. 10,000 after 60 years. To fulfill these demands, the CITU and the All India Kisan Sabha have jointly planned programs on November 26th, both at the national and state levels.
