Agartala: Nov 19: A woman, Sundaram Tripura, was found dead after going missing while collecting firewood in the forest, shocking the entire Subroom subdivision. Sundaram, who had been married to Tapan Joy Tripura, a young tribal man from Choudhuripara, four years ago, had a two-year-old child with him. On the Sunday in question, after lunch with her family, Sundaram went to gather firewood from the hills. When she did not return by evening, her family and villagers began searching for her. Around 7 PM, Sundaram’s body was discovered about 100 meters down the hill, in a jhum field, approximately half a kilometer from her home.
The police were alerted, and Subroom’s Manu police station arrived with a large team, led by Subroom Police Officer Nityananda Sarkar. Investigations revealed that Sundaram had three severe head injuries and scratch marks on her face and chest. Forensic teams and a dog squad were called to the scene. Further investigation uncovered a bloodstain on nearby tree leaves, and police found a talisman in Sundaram’s hand.
