Agartala: Nov 09: The highly anticipated North East Festival is back for its 12th edition, set to take place from November 15 to 17, 2024, at the MDC National Stadium near India Gate. The festival promises a vibrant celebration of the diverse cultures of India’s Northeast, bringing together the spirit of eight states and over 200 communities. With a growing reputation, it has become an integral part of Delhi’s cultural calendar, drawing visitors from across the country to experience the region’s unique art, cuisine, and traditions.
Organised by the Socio-Cultural Trust Trend MMS, with support from the Ministry of DoNER and various government bodies, the festival has evolved into a key platform for promoting tourism, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange. Shyamkanu Mahanta, Organiser-in-Chief, highlighted the festival’s expanded role, saying, “What started as a cultural showcase has now become a major tourism and cultural event in Delhi, fostering unity and shared experiences.”
This year, the festival will feature a diverse array of activities, including an exhibition with MSME stalls showcasing Northeastern agricultural produce, handlooms, and crafts. The Tourism Business Meet will connect tour operators and regional stakeholders to boost sustainable tourism. A highlight will be the food stalls offering authentic regional dishes, such as Assam tea and Nagaland coffee, along with an art exhibition and fashion shows celebrating the region’s textile heritage.
Music remains central to the festival, with performances by top bands and folk artists from the Northeast. The festival will also honor local achievers in sports, entrepreneurship, and the arts during a special awards ceremony.
