Agartala, October 26: The body of a 44-year-old tribal woman, identified as Swapna Oriya, was discovered inside her home in Debapur village, located under the jurisdiction of Sidhai police station said Sabyasachi Debnath, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Mohanpur in West Tripura district who arrived the crime scene.
He added that her husband, Kanti Debbarma, who was reportedly last seen with her the previous night, is currently on the run.
The discovery was made around 12 PM today when her son, Dilip Urya (22), became concerned after noticing his mother hadn’t left her room. Upon knocking, he found her lying dead inside and immediately called police.
Debnath, along with Sidhai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mangesh Patari, a team of police personnel, TSR forces, and an FSL team, arrived at the crime scene to investigate.
He informed that Swapna’s body bore injury marks on her face and legs, suggesting possible foul play.
Authorities suspect Kanti Debbarma, Swapna’s second husband, may be directly involved in the murder.
Police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for Kanti Debbarma.
