Agartala: Oct 05: Three Bangladeshi citizens who entered India to witness Durga Puja have been arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) and handed over to the Dharmanagar police. During interrogation, they revealed plans to visit Silchar for the Puja.
According to reports, Sohel Das and Shyamlal Das entered India from Srimanagal via Kamalpur, paying a broker Rs. 5,000 each. Their sole purpose was to see Durga Puja, which is not celebrated in Bangladesh, where a donation of Rs. 5 lakh is required for the Puja. To fulfill their wish, they traveled from Bangladesh to India. Sabuj Das, a resident of the same village and a bike mechanic in Silchar for the past four years, accompanied them. However, they were arrested by the BSF from the Malakar Basti area of Buripara Dharmanagar railway station during a surveillance operation and handed over to the Dharmanagar police station.
Sohel Das stated that they entered India through a broker to see Durga Puja. The Dharmanagar police are taking appropriate action against them according to international law. The three arrested Bangladeshi citizens will be produced in court today.
