Agartala: Sept 30: On September 9th, marking the 10th anniversary of the TIPF (Tripura Indigenous Peoples Front), its supremo, Patal Kanya, introduced a new political equation. In a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club, she announced the formation of a new political party named ‘Tripura Peoples’ Socialist Party’.
While TIPF has been engaged in social and political activities, Patal Kanya explained that they are now transitioning into a full-fledged political party. She clarified that she will continue to serve as the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alongside her new role as the supremo of the Tripura Peoples’ Socialist Party. She justified this dual role by pointing out that if Tipra Motha can contest elections under the BJP banner, there’s no reason why she can’t form a new party.
The new party, according to Patal Kanya, aims to create a corruption-free Tripura and build a prosperous state. She invited people to join this new political party to work for the development and security of Tripura.
The formation of this new party has raised questions about the future of Tripura’s politics. With Patal Kanya leading two political parties, it remains unclear how she will navigate the political landscape and which party she will campaign for during elections.
