Agartala: Sept 17: During a visit to Ranibazar Durgnagar, MLA Sudip Roy Barman accused the BJP of engaging in divisive politics. Accompanied by state Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha, Barman met with minority Muslim families, promising to address their concerns.
Barman stated, “The BJP has chosen the politics of division. According to the Indian Constitution, everyone has equal rights. No one should feel weak or bow down to anyone.”
He further expressed confidence in democracy, stating, “Fascists cannot stay in power for long. This incident will be judged one day. The Congress will surround the police headquarters in the state on September 23 to protest against terrorism and women’s atrocities.”
Saha attributed the breaking of the Kali idol in Ranibazar and subsequent incidents to administrative inaction, claiming it has significantly harmed the minority community and suggesting the ruling BJP aimed to incite riots among Hindu minorities.
