Agartala, September 2: In a tragic incident at the Indo-Bangladesh border, body of a young girl was recovered by the Border Security Force (BSF) and police from the Indian side near the Latiapura border outpost in Kailashahar under Unakoti district of Tripura on Monday.
The deceased, suspected to be a Bangladeshi national, was found lying approximately 50 meters outside the border fence, close to zero point near border pillar number 57.
The discovery was made by BSF personnel from the 199 Battalion, who immediately informed the Irani Police Station in Kailashahar.
Acting swiftly, a team from the police station, led by Officer-in-Charge Arunoday Das, along with the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Unakoti district, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Kailashahar, Jayanta Karmakar, and BSF officers, reached the spot. They were accompanied by forensic experts and other necessary teams.
In the presence of a Deputy Magistrate, the body was recovered and sent to Kailashahar District Hospital for post-mortem examination.
While the identity of the deceased is yet to be officially confirmed, preliminary investigations and sources suggest that the girl is likely 16-year-old Shorna Das, a resident of Juri area under Kulaura Police Station in Moulvibazar district, Bangladesh.
