Agartala, August 14: Several Hindu organizations, including the Jagannath Temple and ISKCON, under the banner of ‘Pratibad Sangkirtan Somabesh’ organized a protest in Agartala on Wednesday against the ongoing attacks on minority Hindus, their properties, and places of worship in Bangladesh.
The protest, which took place in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here saw participation of several priests and devotees holding banners and placards denouncing the violence.
The demonstrators expressed their outrage over the reported 300 incidents of attacks, arson on Hindus beside vandalism of Hindu temples in Bangladesh since the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister last week.
In addition to condemning the attacks on religious sites, the protesters also voiced their concern over the reported deaths of five individuals and the targeting of media personnel during the violence.
They urged the interim government of Bangladesh to take immediate action to halt the attacks and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
The protest in Agartala reflects the growing concern among the Hindu community in India over the safety and security of minority Hindus in Bangladesh amidst the current political turmoil.
