This statement was made by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha while participating in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan program organized by the 8th Town Bardowali Mandal in Agartala on Monday, on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day.
Interacting with the media, Chief Minister Dr. Saha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign on August 15, 2022, to mark Independence Day, with a three-day program from 13th to 15th August. The main objective of the Prime Minister’s announcement of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is to honor those who have sacrificed their lives for the country and its sovereignty. Har Ghar Tiranga means hoisting the national flag at every home, in all schools, colleges, and encouraging social organizations to participate in this campaign.
The Chief Minister further stated that the Prime Minister had announced the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom and its subsequent protection. And following the Prime Minister’s directive, we have been celebrating this program. We celebrated it in 2023 as well, and this year 2024, the tradition continues. The government has also undertaken various programs. Today, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan program has been organized in Agartala. Similar programs have been organized across the state.
The Chief Minister further added that as part of Har Ghar Tiranga, programs like cycling and walking will be organized. Additionally, programs will be held on the post-partition horrors. Various cultural programs will also be organized. And on the 15th of August, the national flag will be hoisted everywhere. Apart from government programs, various programs will also be organized by political parties. The primary aim of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is to awaken a sense of nationalism and patriotism among the people.
Present at the event along with the Chief Minister were Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar, Corporation Corporator Ratna Dutta, Mandal President, and other leaders. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries participated in the cleanliness drive.
