Agartala: August 11: In light of the ongoing insecurity faced by minorities in Bangladesh, many individuals are attempting to seek refuge in India, particularly through the Tripura border. In response, India has heightened its border surveillance and issued a high alert in the region.
On Sunday, Dr. Vishal Kumar, the District Magistrate of West Tripura, visited the Indo-Bangla border area near Matinagar, accompanied by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. During his visit, Dr. Kumar interacted with Indian residents living across the barbed wire fence, assuring them of administrative support.
Dr. Kumar noted that while the atmosphere among the Indian families in the Matinagar border area remains calm, the situation is sensitive. Both the central and state governments are taking necessary precautions, with continuous monitoring and coordination between the State Government and BSF personnel. Senior BSF officials have also conducted visits to the border areas to assess the situation.
Despite strict patrolling by BSF jawans, there have been instances of infiltration by individuals from Bangladesh, leading to increased vigilance and strengthened border surveillance. Several infiltrators have been apprehended by the BSF and police, underscoring the ongoing challenges in maintaining border security.
