Agartala: July 31: Eight Bangladeshi women, including two children, were arrested by the Airport Police from the MBB Airport on charges of illegal entry into Tripura.
According to the arrested Bangladeshi women, they entered Tripura through the Narayanpur border with the help of a few Indian brokers named Bimol. They paid 12 thousand rupees each to enter India through a cut portion of the barbed wire fence on the India-Bangladesh border.
She further stated that the same broker made fake Indian identity cards, Aadhaar cards, for them in exchange for 1,000 rupees. Today, they were about to leave for Ahmedabad.
In this regard, the OC of the Airport Police Station, Abhijit Mandal, said that upon receiving information that some people were roaming suspiciously at Agartala Airport, the police went and arrested them. During police interrogation, they confessed to illegally entering India. A case has been filed against them and the police have started an investigation. They will be produced in court today, he said.
The arrested persons are Laki Akhtar, Sima Khara, Mohammad Sohaghi Akhtar, Rehena Sheikh, Miss Fatima, and two children from Noakhali, Gopalganj, Lakshmipur, Mymensingh, and Jamalpur districts of Bangladesh.
