Agartala: July 06: On dated 03.07.24, a written FIR was received at wakro PS from a shopkeeper that three armed miscreants (unknown) had entered into her shop on 31 May 2024 late evening and demanded Rs.15,00,000/- (rupees fifteen lakhs) ransom and directed her to deliver the money at namsai bridge. On 3 July 2024, they again called her from their mobile number7085810228 to remind her and demanded the same amount or asked her to face dire consequences. Hence, the Wakro PS case no.04/24 U/S 308(5)/62/3(5) BNS Act’2023 R/W Sec 25(1B) (a) Arms Act’ 1959 was registered the same day.
On 05.07.2024 in a joint operation led by OC PS Wakro Inspr. J. Aran, OC PS Chongkham SI A. Chandra and team from Namsai Police and wakro police and under the direction & guidance of SSP Lohit Tumme Amo,IPS and SP Namsai S. Thinley APPS along with technical support from 11 Assam Rifles Namsai, the 02(two) extortionist who were demanding ransom amounting to Rs 15 Lakhs from the victim in the banner of ULFA were arrested from Marwa area under Chongkham circle, Namsai District . The arrested persons are namely Chanchal Moran aka Rudra Moran(surrendered ULFA cadre.),31 yrs,S/O- Shri. Priyeswar Moran,vill- Horu Masai, po/ps- Kakupathar,Tinsukia Distt(Assam) and Nirmal Moran,35 yrs, S/O- Shri.Lakhindra Moran, vill- Hor Masai, PO/OS- Kakupathar,Dist- Tinsukia(Assam) suspected OGW. The duo were arrested while attempting to escape after extorting advance sum of Rs 95500/- from the victim . The operation was successful after prolong surveillance and discreet planning. The extortionists used to put fear of death to the victim and were trapped after receiving information that they were on their way to collect the ransom.
The following were recovered from the duo.
1) Extorted cash money Rs.95,500/ only.
2) Two nos.of dummy AK rifles.
3) One no.of 9 mm pistol with maggin
4) One keypad ACE model mobile with sim no.7085810228 (used for extortion call only).
5) One android mobile model Redmi 12 with sim no.8761063299.
6) One android mobile model oppo A12 with sim no.6003487925.
7) One pulsar 125 cc motor bike with regn no.AS23A J7685.
Investigation is on and detailed joint interrogation is being done soon.
