Agartala, June 25: Hundreds of Bonmitra, daily wage field workers engaged will Forest Department, staged a protest in front of Aranya Bhavan, the forest headquarters located in Gorkha Basti, Agartala, on Tuesday.
The workers demanded a hike and regular payment of their salaries, an increase in their wage period from the current 20 days to 30 days a month, and the provision of uniforms for Bonmitra workers.
The protesters voiced concerns that, despite working all 30 days in a month, they receive payment for only 20 days. Furthermore, their payments have been irregular, with no wages received for the past three months.
Approximately 600 Bonmitra workers are employed across the state, and a large section of them gathered for the protest, submitting a deputation to the PCCF to address their demands.
