Agartala, June 24: A large number of aspirants for the JRBT Group D positions gathered in front of the Labour Directorate in the Office Lane area of Agartala on Monday, demanding the immediate publication of the merit list.
The protesters, who came from various parts of the state, raised slogans and held placards emphasizing their demands.
They alleged that more than four years had passed since the recruitment processes stareted and they took the recruitment examination, yet the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura had not published the final merit list so the selected candidates are unable to join the job.
This delay, they argued, would result in many aspirants becoming overaged and thereby ineligible for government jobs.
The agitators pointed out that the selected candidates of JRBT Group C have not only received their joining letters but also started working a year ago, but the merit list for Group D remained undisclosed.
They stated that they had previously met with JRBT representatives multiple times about this issue, but no progress had been made.
Determined to continue their protest, they insisted that the merit list must be published by 8 PM today.
The protesters also expressed concern that further delays would occur with the upcoming Panchayat elections in the state next month. Once the election dates are announced, the code of conduct would come into effect, halting any actions until the election process is complete.
According to the agitators, approximately 12,000 aspirants qualified for the written and viva examinations for around 2,500 posts.
They urged Chief Minister Manik Saha and Labour Minister Tinku Roy to take proactive measures to address their demands promptly.
