Agartala, June 15: Amid allegations of irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024 results, the Youth Congress staged a protest rally in Agartala. The demonstrators took out a rally and gathered at Kaman Chowmuni to voice their discontent against the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam.
Protesters burned effigy of the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan and demanded his step-down from his post.
They alleged significant scams in the results, calling the process unfair, and demanded a CBI probe to identify and punish those involved.
The protesters also called for fresh exams nationwide and the release of a new list of selected students.
The announcement of the NEET UG 2024 results on June 4, the parliamentary elections results day, has raised widespread concerns among students and parents, leading to protests across India.
Carrying placards and shouting slogans, the protesters demanded a “fair review” of the exam process. They alleged issues such as paper leaks, hijacking of exam centers, and the awarding of grace marks.
The Youth Congress insisted on a CBI investigation into the NEET UG 2024 exam, citing major flaws in its conduct and evaluation. They urged authorities to address the alleged issues in the exam system and to stop the use of grace marks.
Following the announcement of the results, numerous students questioned the number of top scorers and the awarding of grace marks, while also alleging a possible paper leak. The NTA, however, has denied these allegations, stating that the paper was relatively easier this year.
The protests highlight the growing discontent among students and parents regarding the integrity of the NEET examination process, putting pressure on authorities to address these concerns promptly.
