Agartala, June 13: In a commendable act of public service, the Assam Rifles and Border Security Force (BSF) have joined hands to address the ongoing blood crisis in Tripura following the recent parliamentary elections.
A mega blood donation camp was held at the Assam Rifles’ 21 Sector headquarters in Agartala on Thursday, witnessing significant participation from both paramilitary forces and local civilians.
The camp, organized in response to an appeal by Chief Minister Manik Saha, aimed to replenish the depleted blood reserves in the state’s hospitals.
Chief Minister Saha had urged all citizens to voluntarily donate blood to mitigate the shortage caused by the high demand during the election period and with less number of blood donation camps organized then.
Tripura’s Transport, Food, and Tourism Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, was present at the event, actively participating in the blood donation drive.
His involvement served as a powerful motivator for others, underscoring the importance of community efforts in times of crisis.
The event saw the donation of 126 units of blood, with contributions largely from Assam Rifles troopers, officers, their family members, beside BSF personnel, and teachers and staff from the Assam Rifles School.
Many first-time donors joined seasoned blood donors in this endeavor, driven by the shared goal of saving lives and supporting their community.
Minister Chowdhury lauded the Assam Rifles and BSF for their exemplary role in not only safeguarding the nation from enemies but also stepping up to address critical healthcare needs.
He praised the organizers and participants for their selfless contributions and encouraged more people to participate in such vital initiatives.
The donors expressed a deep sense of satisfaction, knowing their actions could potentially save lives. Their collective message was clear: cooperation and community spirit are essential in overcoming public health challenges.
This collaborative effort between the Assam Rifles, BSF, and civilians highlights the vital role of voluntary blood donation in ensuring medical preparedness and resilience.
As Tripura continues to stabilize post-election, the blood donated at this camp will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare services across the state.
