Agartala, May 14 :The Communist Party of India (Marxist), orchestrated a rally in Agartala to voice grievances and draw attention to what they claim is the government’s neglect of public welfare in Tripura.
Speaking to NEL, Opposition Leader and CPIM state secretary, Jitendra Choudhary, said that the absence of governance over the past month has resulted in widespread disruption to essential services and a surge in commodity prices.
Choudhary lamented the breakdown of the public distribution system, scarcity of fuel, and prolonged power outages following recent storms.
He further highlighted the exorbitant increase in airfare between Kolkata and Agartala, with reports of a single ticket prices reaching Rs 70,000, while accusing the government of remaining silent on these issues.
Choudhary, a senior CPIM leader and former MP, revealed that similar rallies have been organized across the state since Monday and will persist until May 18.
The primary objective of these demonstrations is to compel the government to address the prevailing hardships faced by the populace.
The rally, which commenced from Paradise Chowmhuni area, passed through the streets of the capital city, culminating at Orient Chowmhuni, where CPIM leaders addressed the gathered crowd.
During the proceedings, Choudhary denounced the government’s handling of the fuel crisis, attributing it to inadequate preparation despite relatively very low rainfall.
Furthermore, he criticized the government’s failure to improve the situation in hilly areas governed by the TTAADC, even after the inclusion of the TIPRA Motha alliance in the administration.
According to Choudhary, the situation has not only failed to ameliorate but has deteriorated further, contrary to the promises made by the ruling party.
The CPIM’s rally underscores mounting discontent and a call for urgent government intervention to alleviate the plight of the people in Tripura.
As the demonstrations continue, pressure mounts on the authorities to address the pressing concerns raised by the opposition party.
