Agartala, May 06: The Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress staged out a protest rally demanding the immediate arrest of Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna over his alleged link with crimes against women.
Chanting slogans calling for Prajwal’s arrest and justice for women, the mahila congress protesters voiced their discontent with the handling of the case and accused the BJP, led by Prime Minister Modi, of shielding him from accountability.
The Mahila Congress general secretary Sreyashi Laskar, who led the protest rally on Monday questioned the BJP’s commitment to the “Beti Bachao” (Save Daughter) initiative and opined that instead of ensuring Beti Bachao Beti Padao, PM Modi is supporting ‘Dharshok Bacaho’ initiative.
She said that over 3,000 videos with hundreds of women being sexually harassed, violated and even brutalised by MP Prajwal Revanna over the past few years went viral in social media.
The protesters condemned the BJP and its ally JDS for failing to safeguard women and said that at a time when Prajwal Revanna, facing allegations of sexually abusing hundreds of women fled away from the country, PM Modi-led government remained silent on the issue.
Prajwal is the NDA candidate in Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which went to the polls on April 26.
