Agartala, May 4: As Tripura continues to face a severe shortage of petrol and diesel, exacerbated by restricted train movements connecting the state with the rest of the country, filling stations in Agartala are displaying signs reading ‘no petrol, no diesel.’
With limited stocks, stations are witnessing heavy demand and implementing rationing measures, leading to long queues despite the scorching heatwave.
Fuel distributors attribute the decline in stocks to disruptions in train services due to maintenance of tracks, particularly in Assam, while inclement weather further hampers transportation along the Assam-Agartala national highway.
While filling station owners express hope for a resolution soon, they remain uncertain about the timeline for improvement.
The closure of train routes between Jatinga-Lumpur and New Harangajao stations since April 25, following derailments, severely impacts both passenger and freight services, aggravating fuel supply chain disruptions.
