Agartala: May 03: The investigation into the murder of Durga Prasad Dev, also known as Vicky, the secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha Club in Hatirpara, Dhaka, has taken a significant turn. Police have apprehended a 22-year-old woman suspected to be the mastermind behind the killing.
The woman’s residence is situated in the Pashchim Bhubonban area. Following the incident on April 30, the police arrested Prodyut Dhar Chowdhury, who was implicated in the crime. After his arrest, Prodyut was brought before the court, which granted a three-day police remand. During questioning, Prodyut revealed that Sushmita Sarkar was the alleged mastermind. Subsequently, the police arrested Sushmita based on CCTV camera footage. On Thursday, she was presented in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court and the Civil Court, where authorities sought a 10-day police remand.
However, the pistol and bullets used in the incident remain unrecovered. Consequently, the police have requested an additional five days of remand for Prodyut Dhar Chowdhury.
Sushmita, the accused, is believed to hold crucial information about the case, and investigators anticipate further revelations during her police remand. Raju Barman is also implicated in the matter.
In response to the ongoing investigation, heightened security measures have been implemented in the Usha Bazar area under the Airport Police Station. The police administration remains vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents. Under the guidance of the District Superintendent of Police, officials at the Airport Police Station are diligently pursuing the case .
