Agartala: April 29: In a dramatic turn of events, authorities successfully thwarted the abduction of a minor girl in the vicinity of Melaghar police station, located in the East Chandigarh area. The incident unfolded early last Friday when the girl, fresh from passing her secondary examination, was taken from her home while she slept. The abductor, identified as Russel Ahmed (also known as Baz, Bakhte, and Harmad), employed a cloth to conceal her face during the abduction.
Prompt action by the Mungiakami police station led to the swift arrest of both the abductor and the abducted girl. Ahmed transported the girl by auto from Melaghar to Agartala and subsequently by train to Mungiakami. The joint efforts of law enforcement agencies across Tripura facilitated the apprehension of the kidnapper and the victim.
Notably, the main kidnapper’s mother and several of her associates are allegedly involved in this criminal act. Both arrested abductors have been remanded to Sonamura Rabindranagar Jail pending further investigation. Inspector Anamika Dutta, leading the case for the Melaghar police station, coordinated the operation to apprehend any remaining accomplices.
This incident underscores the importance of timely intervention and collaborative efforts by law enforcement to safeguard citizens and maintain public order.
