Agartala, April 03: In a significant development, leaders from the Congress and CPIM have joined forces under a common umbrella to safeguard the nation. The newly formed India Bloc aims to rally citizens against the ruling BJP government, seeking to oust them from power.
Addressing a press conference at the Agartala Press Club on Wednesday, Convener Jitendra Chowdhury emphasized the critical nature of this alliance. He drew attention to the historical context, highlighting that while both Congress and CPIM members faced violence in the past, democracy itself remained intact. However, he expressed concern that the BJP’s actions now pose a threat to the very fabric of democracy, endangering future generations.
Chowdhury did not mince words when addressing the BJP leadership: “If the leadership kneels, their supporters will follow suit.” He further criticized the BJP’s attempts to manipulate the constitution, bypassing its principles over the past decade. Independent organizations have been co-opted, and even the judiciary has faced challenges. The BJP’s alleged attempts to rewrite history in the name of statism were also called into question.
Turning to a recent incident, Chowdhury raised concerns about the Kumarghat chariot accident. He accused those responsible of obstructing the investigation to shield themselves. Shockingly, the chariot’s contents have reportedly been sold by weight. The Chief Minister’s initial inquiry report failed to satisfy Chowdhury, prompting a demand for a thorough re-investigation. He insisted that the chariot remain intact until the charge sheet is submitted to the court.
Meanwhile, joint convener Sudip Roy Barman highlighted another issue: the transformation of the state’s Maharaja into a moneylender. As discussions continue, the India Bloc’s resolve remains firm, aiming to reshape the political landscape and uphold democratic values. The stakes are high, and the nation watches closely as these political forces collide in their pursuit of change.
