Agartala: March 20: Promila Bahini, a prominent women’s rights organization, orchestrated a peaceful demonstration outside the North District Police Superintendent’s office in Tripura. The protest was a direct response to the attempted murder of an unidentified woman in Gobindapur Gram Panchayat on March 14.
According to reports, the victim fell prey to a vicious attack by a group of men, including Nalinikanta Singh, a resident of Gobindapur Gram Panchayat. The severity of her injuries necessitated immediate hospitalization.
While Nalinikanta Singh has been apprehended, the remaining suspects remain at large. The protesters fervently demanded the swift arrest of these individuals and their subsequent trial.
Promila Bahini, known for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding women’s rights, has actively campaigned against violence targeting women and advocated for justice on numerous occasions. The recent incident in Gobindapur Gram Panchayat serves as a stark reminder of the perils faced by women in North Tripura.
