Agartala December 9: Although the Congress is not the main opposition party, the Congress has assumed the role of the main opposition party by bringing the people’s problems to the attention of the government. MLA Sudip Roy Barman said this during a question and answer session with journalists at the Belonia Sadar District Congress Bhawan on Saturday. He said, a terrible situation is going on in the whole state. There is no work, the burn of unemployment and the student youth society attracted by addiction.
Collapsed health and education system, government has no initiative for employment. Even if there are vacancies, the government has no initiative to fill them. The condition of farmers is very pathetic. Farmers are heavily affected by untimely rains. Farmers are not getting government support. Law and order has deteriorated drastically in the state. People are choosing to commit suicide due to scarcity. All three are committing suicide together. People are selling their children due to scarcity. And there is nothing to say about BJP’s good governance. These do not bode well for the administration. And by capitalizing on these, Congress has taken initiatives to create public relations with people in the coming days. Because the people will have the final say in democracy.
MLA Sudip Roy Barman also said that he heard the former chief minister’s speech about fighting alone in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. But it is an assembly, and not a by-election. If the BJP is to be defeated, the opposition will have to follow the decision taken collectively by the India Alliance. So no leader from the state is in the first place to talk about fighting alone like this. So the decision taken collectively by India Alliance will be the direction of the fight in the state. He further expressed his anger that Congress got only 13 seats to fight against CPM to defeat BJP in the last assembly elections. And in the last by-elections not even one of the two constituencies was awarded. It was unfair. Therefore, the main objective of all anti-BJP political parties should be to support Congress in the two constituencies of Tripura, he said. He also spoke to the party workers on this day and outlined the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Apart from MLA Sudip Roy Barman, MLA South District Congress President Mridul Patari, Province Congress Committee Member Bholanath Dhar, former Minister Monindra Reang Mahila Congress Assembly Leader Sampa Dutta, Youth Congress Leader Ajitabha Majumder and the leadership of various branches of the Congress party were present in the meeting.
