Narsinghar, West Tripura – November 3:In a historic moment, the inaugural passing-out parade for the first group of women troopers in the Tripura State Rifles took place at the KTD Singh Police Training Academy in Narsingarh on Friday.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, accompanied by DGP Amitabh Ranjan, led the inspection of the parade, in presence of senior police officials and the families of the newly graduated troopers who had successfully completed 18 months of rigorous training.
A total of 364 troopers, including 137 women, participated in the parade, all driven by their deep-seated desire to serve their country and the significant opportunity presented by becoming a part of the TSR family.
During the ceremony, CM Saha commended the crucial role played by the TSR in counterinsurgency operations against Tripura’s militants, effectively contributing to the state’s journey towards a militant-free environment.
He highlighted the increasing demand for TSR across the country, not only for security services but also for elections and other vital national programs.
Dr. Saha, also the Home Minister of the state emphasized that the women’s contingent within TSR marks a significant milestone in the state, reflecting the government’s commitment to gender equality, from a 10 percent reservation for women that has now risen to 33 percent.
This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to augment the number of women police personnel and officers in Tripura to combat the rising incidents of crime against women.
In addition to their basic training, the cadets received instruction in martial arts and were well-versed in legal provisions, including the IPC, CrPC, Evidence Act, and more.
Throughout their basic training course, the cadres learned various techniques for counterinsurgency operations, survival skills on land, and acquired comprehensive knowledge of prevailing laws, human rights, the use of different arms and ammunitions, and disaster response.
The proud moment was further enriched by the presence of the families of the passing-out police personnel, making it an even more remarkable occasion.
