Agartala September 12: BJP candidates Tafazzal Hossain and Bindu Debnath won 20 Boxanagar and 23 Dhanpur assembly constituencies as expected on September 8. Two newly elected MLAs took oath on Tuesday. Bishwabandhu Sen, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, read out the oath to the newly elected MLAs one by one in the lobby of the Legislative Assembly.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha was present at the swearing in ceremony. After the swearing in of the two newly elected MLAs, the Chief Minister told reporters that after the 2023 assembly elections, BJP had 32 MLAs. IPFT had one person. Later, due to the resignation of a BJP MLA, the number of BJP MLAs decreased to 31. Naturally, by-elections were necessary in vacant seats. Meanwhile, a CPIM MLA passed away.
Therefore by-elections were held in two centres. BJP candidates won in these two centres. As a result, the number of BJP MLAs increased to 33. BJP alliance has 34 MLAs. He expressed hope that the newly elected legislators will work to fulfill the expectations of the people. After taking the oath, the newly elected MLA Tafazzal Hossain said that first he will give importance to the development of roads in the area. He said that he will work for the overall development of the area. People have believed in him, he said that he will try to honor the people’s faith.
On the other hand, the newly elected MLA Bindu Debnath said that he will try to fulfill his responsibility as a MLA seriously. He said that he will work for the development of education and roads in the area. He also said that the MLAs who were earlier in Dhanpur center did not fulfill the expectations of the people of the area. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha along with other members of the Council of Ministers, state BJP president Rajeev Bhattacharya, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, other BJP MLAs and administrative officials presents the swearing-in ceremony. However, on this day, the leadership of the opposition political parties was absent from the swearing-in ceremony because in the term of the opposition, the result of this election is not of the people. The opposition claims that the election is farcical.
