Agartala September 11: The state government has been trying for a long time to increase the salaries of the staff of the National Health Mission in line with the salaries of other government employees. This process is initiated before the assembly elections. After the elections, the government gave priority to this issue. The decision to increase the salary of the staff of the National Health Mission was approved in the Governing Body meeting before the by-elections.
National Health Mission has 2,051 staff. A proposal was sent from the Health Department to the Ministry of Health regarding the increase in their salary. A proposal is then sent to the Government of India to make the necessary payment. The Government of India accepted the proposal. Then the information of all the staff of the National Health Mission was provided to the Government of India. Earlier there was a difference in salary of National Health Mission staff working in different districts. Previously, lab technicians were the lowest paid. Now their salary has increased. In a press conference at Secretariat on Monday, Health Department Secretary Debashish Basu informed about the salary increase of National Health Mission staff. He highlighted the salary hike among the National Health Mission staff. In the press conference, he also said that arrangements have been made to provide remote area allowance for those who will work in remote areas.
All the specialist doctors who are at the CHC level have been given an allowance of Rs 10,000 per month. According to the new pay scale, additional money will be spent on Rs 16.78 crore. The new pay scale will be effective from April. Before the introduction of the new salary scale, the salary expenditure of National Health Mission staff in 2023-24 was estimated at Rs 90.54 lakh. Currently, it has increased to Rs 107.31 crore, said the health secretary. According to the new salary schedule, no additional money will be required from the finance department in paying the staff of the National Health Mission, said the secretary of the health department. He also said that 2051 National Health Mission staff across the state will benefit from the introduction of the new pay scale. However, the salary of 79 employees was not increased. Health Secretary said that their salary was increased earlier. State Director of National Health Mission D.K Chakma and others were present in the press conference along with Health Secretary.
